Frequently Asked Questions
New Patients
New patients are welcome. Please bring your Medicare card, health care card or pension card. Arrive 10 minutes before your appointment to complete a “new patient registration form”.
Fees and Charges
Dundas Street Medical Clinic is a mixed billing practice. Doctors set their own private fees. Some doctors will continue to Bulk Bill pension card holders and other patients at their discretion. Procedures will attract out of pocket expenses which should be discussed during consultations. Individual doctor fees can be viewed online or provided by reception staff.
Late Cancellation / Non-Attendance Fees
Please provide 2 hours’ advance notice to cancel your appointment. This allows other patients an opportunity to use this appointment time to see their doctor for medical care. A non-rebatable fee of $25-50 is charged per missed appointment.
Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat drug prescriptions require a consultation in person or by telehealth if appropriate.
Medical Certificates
Medical certificates will be issued during a consultation with a doctor. Please note that, for legal reasons, they cannot be backdated.
Referrals
A specialist referral can be obtained only following a consultation with your doctor, either in person or via telehealth if appropriate. It is illegal to back date a referral, so please ensure it is obtained prior to your specialist appointment.
Test Results
Test results are usually available within 3 working days. Patients are encouraged to make an appointment to discuss their results. This ensures confidentiality and appropriate action is taken.
A recall system is in place for abnormal results. Please confirm with reception that your contact details are up-to-date.
Telehealth Appointments
To be eligible for a Telehealth appointment and receive a Medicare rebate, patients must have been seen by a doctor face-to-face in the previous 12 months. Telehealth appointments are billed at the same rate as face-to-face consultations, in accordance with individual doctor pricing.
Telehealth Bulk Bill Consent
If your doctor choses to Bulk Bill a Telehealth consultation, there is a Medicare requirement for consent in written or digital form.
Following a Telehealth appointment, a notification will be issued via HotDoc. This may be sent as a SMS, email or directly to the HotDoc app.
You are required to enter patient`s last name and DOB then select “Verify”. You will be directed to the consent page for assignment of Medicare benefit. This page includes: patient name, doctor name, date & time of consultation, item number and benefit amount. Select "I agree" to provide consent.
