INFORMATION

ABOUT US

Dundas Street Medical Clinic was established in the early 1920s.

The original old weatherboard home was replaced in the mid 1960s by the present surgery, which has been extensively renovated over the years.

The clinic is, and has been caring for generations of families in the local area and surrounding suburbs.

The doctors in our practice are well established general practitioners with many years of family medical practice experience and have satisfied the training requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners for vocational registration.

This means they have a commitment to general practice and to continuing medical education.

The doctors at Dundas Street use clinic facilities and are free to choose their own patient fees. Some continue to Bulk Bill children (under 16) and pension card holders. For more information on individual doctor's fees, please check doctors' websites or call the practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

New Patients

New patients are welcome. Please bring your Medicare card, health care card or pension card. Arrive 10 minutes before your appointment to complete a “new patient registration form”.

Fees and Charges

Dundas Street Medical Clinic is a mixed billing practice. Doctors set their own private fees. Some doctors will continue to Bulk Bill pension card holders and other patients at their discretion. Procedures will attract out of pocket expenses which should be discussed during consultations. Individual doctor fees can be viewed online or provided by reception staff.

Late Cancellation / Non-Attendance Fees

Please provide 2 hours’ advance notice to cancel your appointment. This allows other patients an opportunity to use this appointment time to see their doctor for medical care. A non-rebatable fee of $25 is charged per missed appointment.

Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat drug prescriptions require a consultation in person or by telehealth if appropriate.

Medical Certificates

Medical certificates will be provided during a consultation with a doctor. For legal reasons, these cannot be back dated.

Referrals

A specialist referral can be obtained only following a consultation with your doctor, either in person or via telehealth if appropriate. It is illegal to back date a referral, so please ensure it is obtained prior to your specialist appointment.

Test Results

Test results are usually available within 3 working days. Patients are encouraged to make an appointment to discuss their results. This ensures confidentiality and appropriate action is taken.

The clinic also utilizes a recall system for abnormal results. Please check with reception to ensure your contact details are up-to-date.

Telehealth Appointments

To be eligible for a Telehealth appointment and receive a Medicare rebate, patients must have been seen by one of our doctors face-to-face in the previous 12 months. A telehealth appointment is billed at the same rate as a face-to-face appointment.

Medical Records Transfers

Request and complete a “transfer of medical records” form at reception. Signed consent is required to obtain medical records from another clinic or hospital. There may be associated costs.

Medical records at the Dundas Street Medical Clinic can also be transferred to another medical centre when an appropriate request and consent form is received. This is usually actioned within 7-14 days. Transfers of full records will incur a $50 fee, as they are copied to disc and sent via registered mail.

Work Cover Consultations

Doctors will see patients who have suffered work related injuries. The insurer will be billed directly where there is a current claim number, otherwise the patient is responsible for costs.

Email Policy

The clinic email is not intended to communicate medical advice, nor process requests for referrals, prescriptions, medical certificates or arrange appointments. Such emails will not be actioned. Instead call the clinic on 94842007 or book an appointment online.
